Ribbed Wire Mesh
AWSM FABRIC G485 - steel welded mesh (using ribbed or plain wires) is produced to comply with Malaysian Standard MS 145: 2001 - Steel Fabric for the Reinforcement of Concrete.
It is manufactured using one of the world's most sophisticated mechatronic and yet automatic welding machine, which pulls a number of 'Main' wires and welds 'Cross' wires at predetermined spacing.
The 'Main' and 'Cross' wires are cold reduced steel ribbed wire or plain wire which stipulates a minimum characteristic strength (0.2% proof stress) of 485N/mm2 or 70,000 psi.
MS 145: 2001 also prescribes that the shear strength of each weld is at least half of the characteristic strength (250N/mm2) of the cold reduced wires - yet ensure that the necessary anchorage can be developed.
'Standard' AWSM FABRIC G485 comes in both Metric and Imperial Units (Download specifications below). The term 'Standard' refers to specific spacing and diameter of the wires. From the datasheet, it is noted that the AWSM ref. no consists of an alphabet that ends with a number. The alphabet denotes the specific spacing while the number is the diameter of the main wire.
AWSM produces 'Standard Dimension' fabric in two forms - sheet and roll. The dimension of a sheet fabric is 6.0m x 2.2m. Roll form is only available for diameter 5.0mm and below which the dimension is 40.0m x 2.2m.
AWSM provides its customers additional services of 'Cut-To-Size' fabrics with tehnically-advanced scheduling techniques to the required sizes and 'Bending' fabric to the specified shapes.
AWSM standard fabrics and Cut-To-Size fabrics are easy to handle and stack at construction site (save space). It is already electrically welded (cutting effort with tie wires) and can be placed quickly into position.
Where flexibilities allow, AWSM can manufacture 'Special' fabric to specific requirements for its customers. This has given the rise to the development of engineering fabric to aid in the design and the construction of modern concrete buildings.
